Cherry seeds

This is my story about cherry seeds, why I thought I shouldn’t waste them.

First Experience

Back in 1999 I was a trainee in Ramadan Bintang Bali Resort. I trained as a bar waitress.

Once I had to serve a drink garnished with a cherry. It was of course out of a can, but I was like, “wow cherry!!!! never seen cherries live before, only on TV or in a movie or so.” Then one of my seniors there, asked me if I wanted to try. So I tried but.. huhhh that was awful! It tasted so chemical.

Away From Tropical Island

But when I moved to Switzerland in the winter 2001, and one day my bestie told me that parents in laws has cherry plants in their garden, and we could eat them in the summer or earlierst at the end of spring. Then I was like, “no, I tasted cherry once and it was awful, nah..I didn’t like it!  “Wait till you eat the fresh one, it’s nothing like the ones of a can..far off! You will see, you will going to like it.”,said Andy, my only bestie in Switzerland, me far from siblings and parents back then. On Cherry season I was definitely convinced that fresh cherries is one of my favorite fruits, especially when eaten straight from the tree.

So Into Fresh Cherries

Then when we moved to the United States, we miss the Cherry season a lot. We felt so lucky when we stumbled onto big fresh cherries while we did our usual grocery shopping at Walmart. We tried different kinds and one of them is the Sonnet Cherry…I was so into Sonnet cherry….. then I did a quick research.. It turns out Sonnet Cherry is mixed between Van & Stella cherries created in the late1990’s in Canada (In case anybody wondering what Sonnet Cherry is).

SonnetCarries

We live in desert, where the enviroment is very different from what we are used to….. I don’t know.. it makes us grow I guess….I just think differently after every time we finish eating cherries and had leftover seeds..It was so good..but we can get it like we used to…..there must be things that we can do with those seeds I thought….but right now we plan to grow our own cherries when we’re definitely settled in one place..so I started to keep those seeds. But then…… I thought why not sell them…..
